1. Introduction

What it does:

PWDGEND.NLM responds to TCP port 129 connections with six randomly generated eight-character passwords.  This behaviour is documented in RFC972.

Why it's useful:

Some users have difficulty selecting a password after common choices such as names or dates have been ruled out.  Since PWDGEND.NLM uses a multi-level algorithm to generate passwords that are somewhat easy to pronounce, this greatly improves the user's chances of remembering it.
